:: spring arrived! ::

Spring arrived today!

Remember? Fresh green leaves, blossom, the sound of singing birds and active lawn mowers. It seems so far away, but it’s all around the corner. Just be patient and see! I even don’t care that it is raining today because the better days are on their way, for sure. IMG_8131-001

To celebrate spring, I created a pincushion. No, joking now.

Actually I needed¬† a pincushion because all my pins and needles seem to get lost and I collected some really scrappy¬†scraps which I turned into this pincushion. I like to make small projects like these, because they actually are somewhat functional. That’s why I never ever throw away small pieces of fabric, ever!

Enjoy your very first spring weekend of the year!

:: all things pretty ::

There are so, so many things simple things in life that are mend to make happy..
Ethiopians have a particular taste for beauty. Although beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I’m sure most of us would agree that they can be real artisans. I mean, take for example basketry, the most creative designs come forth from simple farmers that use (coloured) grass. Nowadays people are occasionally using materials like plastic strips from bags or cotton thread. For me grass baskets are favourite. Look at these.. and all handmade!
